Interview With The Champions - Calis77 |
Q: Why did you pick this kit for Summer Contest 2009? A: This kit was for my mother birthday which approximately at the same time as the summer contest and I didn't have time for another kit so the choice was made. Q: What was the most challenging part of building this kit? A: The most challenging part is its size, it is little so the details are very little. For the painting it isn't a big challenge but the sanding was difficult. Q: What do you think is the highlight of your work? A: Sorry, but I don't know. Q: Besides your work, which entries you really like in Summer Contest 2009? A: I like lot of figures on this contest, like the Seyadatara R6 Version of Blacula, the Hellboy Diorama of Ogami or very original Rei's Iridian Crusader Totalwar Suit of L'autre. All participants did a great job. Q: How did you start this hobby? A: I read a lot of manga and seen many beautiful illustrations so I decide to try to have them in figurines. In doing research I saw sites about GK and as I was already accustomed to painting small soldiers (warhammer) I thought "why not get in there?" Q: How long have you been building GK? A: I have built GK since February 2008, I took 2 months before I decide to order my first GK which is still not painted elsewhere. Q: What is the first GK you built? A: The first GK I built was a Kanu with china dress. I spent all my holidays painting it, not accustomed to the format I took time to test techniques and avoid brush lines which are very visible at this scale. Q: How many GK have you built so far? A: At the moment I finished 5 GK and another will soon completed. But for the moment I dedicate myself to the GK sculpture, I started a year ago but I have still not finished. Q: Throughout all the GK you built, which GK you built that makes you proud? A: The GK I'm most proud of is the Monster Hunter diorama without hesitation, It allowed me to use metal colors which I like and is the only on I had which is comical. I like the small details that make laugh, is already scheduled for my next diorama. Q: What is your thought about GK hobby? A: I think GK is very interesting (otherwise I don't build GK). It allows you to paint the characters of your favorite series, to run our imagination. To see your GK build day after day is a real pleasure. Q: What do you do for living? A: I am currently a student, I prepare the contest to enter in an aeronautical engineer school because plane is my other passion. Q: What advices would you suggest to novices at GK? A: The advice I would give to novices is to be very patient, don't hesitate to restart until you have the desired result and to share their creations with others to have opinions, advice paintings... And of course to have courage. |
